Bio

Ben spent his childhood travelling the world by boat with his father, an author and photographer, and his mother, a teacher. This unusual upbringing developed an early interest in diverse myths and stories. With a formal education in history Ben’s career path began in games design, freelance writing for US companies Palladium, Pinnacle and Warner Brothers, before moving into screenwriting and then directing. His first screenplay All Flesh Must be Eaten won the Inside Film What IF? Award and his debut feature Wasted on the Young premiered to rave reviews at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival.

With a British residency permit Ben is able to work in the UK and Australia, having lived in London 2017-2020 and whilst completing post production for the Disney+ action-adventure series Nautilus in 2023.

Ben is currently in the final stages of post for season 02 of High Country on Binge.

In 2025 Ben delivered episodes of the highly anticipated second season of The Artful Dodger for Disney+ to rave reviews. It currently sits at an overall 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. In 2024 Ben directed The Survivors, a Jane Harper novel adaptation produced by Tony Ayres Productions for Netflix. The Survivors was released world wide and became the #3 most streamed show on its first weekend. In 2022 Ben directed episodes of the Disney+ action-adventure series Nautilus, the highest budget series commissioned by Disney at the time, later released on AMC in North America, Prime Video in the UK and Stan in Australia.

Other television work includes the Amazon series The Wilds for ABC Signature and Australian dramas like the Foxtel original series Fighting Season.

Ben's directorial debut Wasted on the Young, starring Oliver Ackland, Alex Russell and Adelaide Clemens, premiered at the 2010 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and screened in competition at Busan, SxSW, Torino and the Sydney Film Festival where it placed in competition. Wasted was released by Paramount Pictures in Australia, Momentum Pictures in the UK and Indomina in the US before being acquired by Netflix.

Ben's second feature, sci-fi thriller OtherLife, starring Jessica de Gouw, premiered at Sydney Film Festival in 2017 and was acquired worldwide by Netflix.

Ben is currently attached to direct feature and TV projects with partners in the US, UK and Australia.
